*Future Directions in Critical Trafficking Studies*

Since its inception, critical trafficking studies has attempted to dismantle the stereotypes and assumptions that shape anti-human trafficking efforts and policy at local and global levels. Even with the growth of this academic discipline, mainstream anti-trafficking discourses still rely on troubling tropes of race, gender, sexuality, and citizenship.

In this brown bag research presentation, Dr. Schwarz will discuss how activists and scholars can move beyond these normative frameworks to imagine anti-trafficking futures beyond the carceral state and its attendant understandings of victimhood and criminality.
