Thank you for your interest in Department of Sociology's Graduate Program. We know applying for graduate school can be nerve racking, and might seem like a big task, but we're here to make it easier.

Deadlines:

The deadline for Fall admission (with funding opportunity upon program acceptance) is February 1. Students not requesting funding may submit applications until April 1.
The deadline for Spring admission (with or without funding opportunity upon program acceptance) is October 15

 The following items are required for a complete application*:

  1.  Resume/CV
  2.  Names and email addresses for 3 references
  3.  2-3 page personal statement
  4.  Unofficial transcripts
  5.  Writing sample (optional)

**The Department of Sociology at OSU no longer requires GRE scores for admission to its graduate programs. 

*International applicants must also submit TOEFL scores if English is a second language.


Our Specialty Areas:

Here in the Department of Sociology we offer both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees emphasizing the fundamentals of sociological inquiry (i.e., theory, methods, statistics), as well as concentrations in five specialty areas.
