Bio
Lara Gonçalves is a Master’s student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology at Oklahoma State University. She has had the privilege of working as a teacher in England, Thailand, and the United States for almost a decade. Experiencing life in a variety of cultures, communities, and socioeconomic settings led to a deep appreciation of diversity and a sobering awareness of inequality. Lara became drawn to sociology while exploring how identity governs our place in society and shapes the way we experience the world. She is looking forward to completing her Master’s degree and hopes to continue on to do a PhD.
