BIO
Jesse Lane’s primary research is currently focused on two areas specifically. First, the Sociology of Science with an emphasis on how groups understand science and why they see it that way. Secondly, the Sociology of the Internet with regards to social movements’ utilization of the internet as well as identity issues involved in online use. His main stream of thought throughout all of this is related to class but also a fundamental philosophical understanding of how people conceptualize their thoughts and choices. He has presented some preliminary findings with regards to people’s attitudes toward science at the Georgia Sociological Association’s Annual Meeting and the Southern Sociological Society’s Annual Meeting as well as worked on a few applied sociological projects in the Valdosta, GA community. Jesse is currently a graduate assistant here at Oklahoma State University and was also a graduate assistant throughout his career at Valdosta State University.
