Chad Malone joined the Oklahoma State University Sociology department as an Assistant Professor in 2015 after completing his Ph.D. in Sociology at The Ohio State University. His teaching interests include criminology, deviance, political sociology, and terrorism while his research interests include social control, punishment, and political sociology. Dr. Malone’s most recent independent research project assesses the extent to which race, political partisanship, gendered politics, unemployment, and crime influence the severity of U.S. state-level crack/powder cocaine drug laws and imprisonments over time. Additionally, Dr. Malone is collaboratively studying the long-term effects of economic insecurity on U.S. state prison admission rates over a twenty-five-year period. His work has been published in The Sociological Quarterly, Social Science Research, and Research in Social Stratification and Mobility.
