Graduate Student Scholarship Awards

"While we would have usually celebrated our graduate student awards with a ceremony, snacks, too-sweet punch, kind words given in person, and lots of hugs, we won’t be able to do that this year.

Instead, please join me in congratulating and showing some (distance) love to all of our awardees!


  1. Named in honor of the man who founded the Department of Sociology and Rural Life at Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University), the O.D. Duncan Outstanding Graduate Student award is given to one student each year who exemplifies excellence in the areas of research, teaching, campus involvement and Sociological practice.

We are pleased to award the O.D Duncan Outstanding Graduate Student Award to Lexi AlmyCongratulations Lexi!


  1. The Richard Dodder Scholarship award is given to one student each year that has done an outstanding job of practicing Sociology in an applied manner through teaching, research or community involvement.

We are pleased to award Jericho McElroy the Richard Dodder Scholarship! Congratulations Jericho!


  1. The Sarah Belusko Award. Given in honor of former and greatly missed PhD student Sarah Belusko, this award is presented to a graduate student demonstrating commitment to community, engagement with innovative classroom strategies, and the pursuit of creative research endeavors.  This year we have two awardees.

We are pleased to award Martha Sibley the Sarah Belusko Award. Congratulations Martha!
