SOCIOLOGY NEWSLETTER | Issue #4 18 Client Problem Solving Competition Department of Sociology Academic Advisor, Dahlia Molloy traveled to Norfolk, Virginia with three OSU students to compete in the Association of Applied and Clinical Sociolo- gy’s Client Problem Solving Competition . This year’s team—Hallie Mitchek, Laura Stephenson, and Kiera Jack- son—competed to offer the best sociological solution for an issue facing REACH , a local organization that works to im- prove literacy and education for children, especially those living in poverty. Volunteers for REACH read, craft, and donate books to children in homeless and domestic violence shelters. Students in the Client Problem Solving Competi- tion have two days to use their sociological tools to address how REACH can increase the number and amount of dona- tions, paying particular attention to patterns of giving from donors of different generations.
