At Oklahoma State University undergraduate sociology students are extending the borders of learning past the traditional classroom experience and transforming their college experiences through research, scholarship and creative endeavors.
Judith Little Student Problem Solving Competition
Emphasizing the value of undergraduate research, each year the department sends a team of undergraduates to the Association for Applied & Clinical Sociology conference hosted in various U.S. cities annually. Here, students engage in a research competition aimed at using applied and clinical skills to solve a real problem faced by an agency or organization. In addition to building problem solving skills, this exercise provides students with experience in teamwork and time management, and serves as a valuable networking opportunity for the next generation of practicing sociologists.
The OSU team tied for top honors at this year's conference in Montgomery, Alabama.
Resources for undergradaute publishing opportunities
Students are encouraged to submit their original work to a variety of undergraduate journals and conference presentations as a means of engaging with, and contributing to, the field of sociological reearch.
