Kathleen is a first year Masters student and recently graduated from Pittsburg State University with a BA degree in International Studies and Sociology. Kathleen was recently published in the National Kidney Foundation Journal of Nephrology Social Work for her participation in a research project with several faculty members from Pittsburg State University Sociology Department and Nursing Department. The paper, “Reframing the Gift of Life: An Examination of Altruism, Social Distance and Material Incentives as Factors in Non-Directed Kidney Motivation among Donors,” utilized a survey conducted in the Czech Republic at a conference for international nurses. Kathleen’s further research interests include Social Inequality, Medical Sociology and Gender with particular interest in the Sociology of Health, Obesity and Body Image amongst women. Kathleen’s ultimate goal is to obtain a PhD in Sociology and become an instructor in addition to participating in research with students.
