Jonathan Coley joined the Department of Sociology at Oklahoma State University in 2018. His research focuses on social movements, especially LGBT movements and civil rights movements in the United States. He is particularly interested in addressing questions related to social movement participation and the role of religion in social change, often using formal qualitative methods such as qualitative comparative analysis (QCA). His first book, Gay on God’s Campus: Mobilizing for LGBT Equality at Christian Colleges and Universities, was published by The University of North Carolina Press in 2018. He has also published his research in journals such as Social Currents, Sociological Perspectives, Mobilization, Social Movement Studies, and Research in Social Movements, Conflicts, and Change
