Tom Shriver’s primary research interests are in the areas of environment sociology, social movements, health and inequality. He is particularly interested in social change generated by the efforts of social movement organizations mobilized around environmental health issues. In addition, he has done extensive research on state social control of environmental activism. His work has appeared in a variety of sociological journals. He is currently studying environmental activism in several contaminated communities and in post-communist Czech Republic. Tom regularly teaches courses in environmental sociology, social movements and inequality, and he advises students in OSU’s Environmental Science graduate program.
