Patricia Bell is a Professor and has been a member of the faculty since 1981. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Her areas of expertise include social research design, sociology of law, and social demography. Dr. Bell has conducted research and published in the areas of labor force participation, migration, social mobility, census coverage,  the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921, and undercount of the African American population, among other topics. Dr. Bell has presented research findings in international meetings around the globe, and teaches classes on the topics of world population problems and immigrant and ethnic minorities. She received a Fulbright Award to travel in Israel and Jordan, and has taught in Central America.
