How To Apply For Admission
to the Sociology Graduate Program

There are two steps to the application process. Applicants must apply to both the Graduate College for admission to the university as a graduate student AND to the Sociology Department. February 15 is the deadline for applicants who want to be considered for funding and admission for the following fall semester. Non-funded admissions have a deadline of April 20 for the following fall semester.

GRADUATE COLLEGE:

Applicants must submit the following materials to the Graduate College:

  • Application fee
  • ONE official transcript from each university attended.
International applicants must also submit:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score if English is a second language

SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT:

Applicants must also submit the following materials to the Department of Sociology:

  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Official GRE scores
  • Vita
  • a writing sample
