Kelley Hartshorn (Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2011) joined the department in 2012.  Her research focuses on substance use and mental health among understudied populations.  She is particularly interested in North American Indigenous youth and adults, as well as homeless women.  Her work has appeared in Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Research on Adolescence, and Society & Mental Health.   Recently, she co-authored Indigenous Adolescent Development: Psychological, Social and Historical Contexts (2014, Routledge/Taylor & Francis), which details the first half of an 8-year study of Indigenous youth and their families.
