About the FICS Book Review The FICS Book Review seeks out and promotes quality book reviews in a wide range of sociological issues and topics. In order to bring readers into the ongoing process of sociological inquiry, FICS Book Review features incisive, independent comments on major monographs and books on the day. The selection of book reviews is the responsibility of the FICS managing editors. There will be three types of review: brief review, complete review, and review essay. A brief review should be one to two pages of a single text. A complete review should be three to five pages of a single text. A review essay should focus on two or more texts on the same topic and should be six to eight pages in length. Reviews should be written so as to provide readers with an overview of the contents, as well as an evaluation of the text. The evaluation and opinions should be expressed constructively; overly dismissive reviews will not be accepted. Reviews should be typed and double-spaced. Length should be as long (e.g., a review essay) or as short (e.g., a brief review) as contributors feel is necessary. Note: Publishers are welcome to submit their books for review by sending them to the address below. Please include the publicity release and / or media kit, as well as your catalog. E-mailing of publicity releases is encouraged. Alberto G.
