BIO

Michelle is a third year PhD student at OSU. She completed her Master’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University along with earning a Graduate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies. Her main research interests include inequality as it relates to race, class, gender, and sexuality, along with criminology, utilizing qualitative methods. She has worked on projects focusing on the sex education of non-heterosexual young adults, media portrayal of same-sex couple intimate partner violence, and the recruitment, retention, and representation of women in STEM. She has a recent publication in Sex Roles and a forthcoming article in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. For her dissertation she plans to examine how wrongfully convicted individuals navigate the job market.
